Local AM station temporarily off the air

If you’ve tried to tune in WERT 1220 on the AM dial within the last few days, you’ve no doubt noticed you can’t hear the radio station.

The station’s main transmitter went down last week, but WERT owner Chris Roberts said new parts should start arriving today and it shouldn’t be long before the AM signal returns to the airwaves.

“It went off last Tuesday and while waiting for parts we have taken the opportunity to improve the antenna system, which will improve the signal for when we do get back on the air,” Roberts said.

He also noted the exact same programming normally heard on 1220AM, including Van Wert Cougar football and basketball can be heard on WERT 104.3.
