YMCA holds ‘golf ball drop’ fundraiser
The YMCA of Van Wert County recently held a ball drop where hundreds of numbered balls were dropped from a lift. The numbers correlated with pre-sales for those who purchased tickets prior to the event. Those purchasing tickets were buying a chance to win half of the proceeds from the sales, with the remaining half going towards youth sports at the Y.

With $1,074 in ticket sales, the winner was to get $537. Eric McCracken’s number landed closest to the target and he chose to donate all of his winnings back to the Y.
“I want to thank everyone for participating in the 50/50 ball drop fundraiser,” stated Y Program Director Mitch Price. “The proceeds from this event will go towards youth sports equipment and youth memberships. It was a great and exciting event.”
“We also want to thank Charlie Witten for letting the Y use the golf balls and bucket, as well as Ace Hardware for donating the lift for the event,” Price added.
Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting www.vwymca.org.
The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by the Van Wert County Foundation and United Way.
