Knights ring in the holidays
By Kenzie Ray
‘Tis the season, December is here, and with it comes cold, snow, and for the Crestview students, hope for delays and cancellations. As well as the weather basketball season is sneaking up on us as well and the Van Wert County Tip Off.
Crestview’s varsity basketball team brought the house down when they swept through the Van Wert Tip-Off Classic with a solid championship. The boys proved they were able to compete and win with their rivals, The Lincolnview Lancers on Friday night qualifying them for the championship game Saturday with the Cougars from Van Wert. On Saturday the Knights took the victory with a score of 44-42. Cam Etzler shot an outstanding half court shot right at the end on the first half tying the game. “I was trying to get in the middle of the floor to try and get a good look, I was thinking, ‘this could go in’ and luckily it did,” Etzler reminisces. It looks like we are ready and set for another great season.
And while all of that is sweet music to the ears, so is the annual high school Christmas Concert, being planned by the music department. Junior Kate Bauer says, ” I love the Christmas holiday, and singing all the songs that go alone with this great time of year.”
As all of the Knights prepare for the season, remember to watch for NHS members ringing the bell for The Salvation Army at our local Wal-Mart. They are donating their time so those in need may still have a happy holiday.
Crestview’s FCCLA members are getting ready to get a Christmas activity planned for some local children. The organization will be purchasing gifts for the children and also some items for them to choose, wrap and give to their parents and siblings. Go Knights!!
