Class schedule available
By Hope Wallace

Upon reflection of the past year since my arrival at the Wassenberg Art Center, the whirlwind of activity has amazed and humbled me at the same time. I am amazed at how people can pull together to put art and its importance to community identity and culture at the forefront. We are very fortunate to be living in Van Wert where the visual arts, photography and architecture are appreciated and valued.
We have recently published our class schedule for the first quarter of 2012. We have 21 different offerings for both adult and youth going on through March. It’s our belief people are happiest when creating so we think we have a broad sampling for many interests. Call the art center for more information or to receive a catalog.
The art exhibits that will take place in 2012 are proving to be very exciting. We had a visit from Judith Greavu today inspecting the large gallery for something potentially…awesome! In addition to Judith, Mille Guldbeck and Jens Svendsen, of the Bowling Green area are teaming up to exhibit this fall. Mille has works displayed all over the world and Jens blends the intricacies of natural object into sculptural form. The Indiana Wildlife Society, the Ohio Watercolor Society and our regular annual exhibits will once again set next years stage for Wassenberg Art Center and we can’t wait.
You have until this Friday, December 16, 5 p.m. to shop the 22nd Annual Artists Exhibit and Sale. Sale hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 1–5 p.m. The coffee is brewing; we’re known to have good snacks occasionally. Though sales have been brisk we still have plenty of unique items to choose from. This exhibit is sponsored by Van Wert County Hospital and the Van Wert County Foundation.
ArtMorning will resume in January and ArtNight will break after tonight until January as well. Give us a call if you have questions on timing or what these get-togethers are all about.
