Art center prepares for new year
By Hope Wallace
The art center is fairly quiet now. An occasional artist arrives to pick up their remaining work left from our last exhibit and sale of the year. Exhibits, classes and events are lining up nicely for the coming year. What can an art center offer to a community? What would you as an individual like to see offered by the Wassenberg Art Center? We belong to each of you and we have been established for the very reason to serve the community’s visual art needs.
We currently offer 8-10 exhibits per year, a large selection of low-cost art classes for both youth and adults, and a summer art camp for various age groups. ArtNight and ArtMornings are available for artists and enthusiasts to come into the art center to work on their existing projects, get help in starting a project in their interest area or to use our ceramic, printmaking and other equipment. We have the Wassenberg Camera Club to accommodate the photographers among us. If you have an interest in creating, you have friends here.
Most importantly, we would like to thank our sponsors and members over the past years for making our exhibits and programs possible. Thank you to the Van Wert County Foundation for their continued support and guidance. Other sponsors who have graciously sponsored exhibits or programs this past year include, Central Mutual Insurance, Purmort Brother’s Insurance, The Van Wert County Hospital, Vancrest Health Care Center, Citizens National Bank, Stephanie Dawn, Wetzel Motorcycle Club, Van Wert Federal Savings Bank, 1st Federal Savings & Loan among the countless who contribute on a personal level. We’d also like to thank our Wassenberg Art Center Association Board of Directors. With your guidance, hard work and support the art center will continue to grow and embrace the future.
Classes begin in early January so call and reserve your spot soon! ArtMorning and ArtNight will resume in January as well. Give us a call if you have questions on timing or what these get togethers are all about.
All of us from the Wassenberg Art Center wish you the happiest of holidays and we hope these days find you surrounded by loved ones, good food, light and laughter. Until next year!
