Helen Louise Fleming

Helen Louise Fleming, 81, of Rockford, died early Wednesday morning, December 21, 2011, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 13, 1930, near Columbus Grove, the daughter of the late William Henry and Clara Barbara (Merschman) Landwehr. On October 16, 1948, she married Harold Garwood, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1974. On December 5, 1987, she married Norman L. Fleming, who survives at the residence.

Other survivors include a son, James (Peggy) Garwood of Ashland City, Tenn.; two daughters, Judy Garwood of Holgate and Joan (Lindain) Brehm of Celina; a stepdaughter, Laura (Musa) Akel of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Norbert Landwehr of Mendon; and one sister, Alice Youngpeter of Delphos.

A sister, Leona Fisher, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford, with Father Ken Alt officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, December 26, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.

Preferred memorials: State of the Heart Hospice in Coldwater or the Cancer Association of Mercer County in Celina.
