Crestview 48 Spencerville 37

CONVOY — Crestview improved to 5-1 (2-0 NWC) with a 48-37 win over Spencerville on Thursday.

The Lady Knights held a 9-7 lead after one quarter, then increased the advantage to 27-19 at halftime, with Crestview’s Kaci Gregory accounting for seven of her 15 points in the second period. Ellie Kline took over in the third quarter by scoring 11 of her game high 25 points, but Spencerville countered with six points each by Clara Goecke and Lenna Smith. Leading 33-28 entering the fourth quarter, Crestview outscored the visitors 15-9 to secure the win.

Goecke scored 13 points for Spencerville, but the Bearcats were plagued by 23 turnovers, compred to nine by Crestview. Spencerville won the rebounding battle 25-19 and the Bearcats connected on all nine of their free throw attempts, while Crestview was 10-of-14.

Crestview will host Wayne Trace at 12 p.m. Saturday with a two quarter junior varsity game, while Spencerville (4-2, 1-1 NWC) will host Marion Local on Tuesday.

Lincolnview 64 Lima Central Catholic 40

LIMA — Lincolnview opened Northwest Conference play with a decisive 64-40 victory over Lima Central Catholic Thursday night.

The Lancers (3-3, 1-0 NWC) led 17-8 after the first quarter, with Keira Breese accounting for nine Lincolnview points. The lead was 29-19 at halftime, with Breese and Emerson Walker each scoring five points in the second quarter. A 24-13 third quarter scoring advantage pushed the lead to 53-32 after three quarters. Breese added eight more points in the third quarter and went on to finish with a game high 25 points. Walker and Brooklyn Byrne each scored six points in the third stanza and both finished the game with 13 points. Quinlyn Walker added nine points in the win. Aubrey Frankhouser led Lima Central Catholic (1-6, 0-1 NWC) with 21 points, including 11 in the third quarter.

Lincolnview will host Wayne Trace on Monday.

Bath 53 Van Wert 23

LIMA — A slow start proved to be costly for Van Wert, as Bath jumped out to a 16-6 first quarter lead and went on to defeat Van Wert 53-23 on Thursday night.

The lead grew to 32-11 by halftime, and Bath led 46-20 after three quarters. Kendra Deehring and Jazzlyn Florence each scored eight points for Van Wert. Bath’s Marlie Mason led all scorers with 12 points.

Van Wert (1-4, 0-2 WBL) will play at Wayne Trace Tuesday night.
