Recap: Cougars lose in OT, Knights win

St. Henry 55 Van Wert 48 (OT)

ST. HENRY — 32 minutes wasn’t enough so Van Wert and St. Henry went to overtime and the Redskins outscored the Cougars 9-2 in the extra session to claim a 55-48 victory at St. Henry High School Saturday night. Van Wert is now 1-1 in overtime games this season.

Keith Siefring scored five points for St. Henry (9-11) in overtime and finished the game with 13 points. Teammate Austin Zimmerman led all scorers with 15 points. Cohen Bragg led Van Wert with 12 points, Xavier Kelly had 11 and Griff McCracken finished with nine.

The game was tied 13-13 after one quarter, then St. Henry led 25-23 at halftime and 36-35 after three quarters. The game was tied 46-46 at the end of regulation. 

Van Wert (8-12) will finish the season at home against Kenton on Friday.

Crestview 54 Coldwater 51

COLDWATER — Crestview hit nine three-pointers and the Knights used those long distance points to edge Coldwater 54-51 on Saturday. It was Coldwater’s first home loss of the season.

Wren Sheets and Owen Heckler each scored six points in the opening quarter, but Crestview trailed 17-14 at the end of the period. Coldwater’s Baylen Blockberger and Mason Welsch combined for 14 points in the quarter. However, the Knights outscored the Cavaliers 15-8 in the second quarter and enjoyed a 29-25 lead. Hayden Perrott, Braxton Leeth and Owen Heckler each drained a trey in the second period. Heckler drilled two more threes in the third quarter and Perrott added another, and Crestview led 43-41 entering the fourth quarter.

Heckler finished the night with six triples and 18 points, while Sheets tallied 15 points in the win. Welsch led all scorers with 21 points and Blockberger finished with 17. Caleb Schroer added 11 points for the Cavaliers (12-7).

Crestview (16-4) will finish the regular season with a pair of games – home against rival Lincolnview on Friday, then at Delphos St. John’s on Saturday.
