St. John’s girls get win over Lady Lancers

The Delphos St. John’s Lady Blue Jays got out to a quick start against Lincolnview, winning 58-35 in a non-league girls’ basketball game played Tuesday at Lincolnview.

The Lady Jays had four players in double figures, led by Katie Vorst’s 16 points. Courtney Grothouse added 14 points, while Shelbie Reindel had 12 points and Jessica Recker 10 points for St. John’s.

The Lady Lancers were led by Claire and Katie Dye, both of whom had 11 points in the game – the only Lincolnview players in double figures.

The Blue Jays got out to a 16-4 first-quarter lead and upped that lead another point, to 13 points, with a 34-21 halftime advantage. The Lancers trailed by 15, 47-32, at the three-quarter mark, while St. John’s outscored Lincolnview 11-3 in the final quarter for the 23-point victory.

With the win, Delphos is now 11-5 on the year, while the Lady Lancers are 5-11 overall.

The junior varsity game was much closer, but the Lady Jay JVs eked out a 26-25 win. The Lancer JVs are now 8-8 on the season.

Lincolnview will next play Ada on Thursday at Ada.
