Delphos man faces drug-related charges

West Central Ohio Crime Task Force information

DELPHOS – An investigation into reports of a “drug house” in the 900 block of Southridge Drive in Delphos has resulted in a search warrant being served on the residence on Friday morning.

Steven J. Diltz

Members of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team and Delphos Police Department K-9 unit, served a search warrant at 990 Southridge Drive at approximately 10:28 a.m. Friday.

A resident of the house, Steven J. Diltz, 27, ran as he saw officers approaching him and also threw something into a wooded area near the residence. Diltz as apprehended, the item was recovered and officers began a search of the house, which resulted in the finding of the following evidence:

  • Several items of drug paraphernalia, including hypodermic syringes
  • A small quantity of U.S. currency
  • A small quantity of heroin
  • A small quantity of prescription medication
  • Several pieces of electronic equipment

In Diltz’s bedroom, officers found a small hole cut in a window screen, which was apparently used to transfer items in and out of the bedroom, as reports had indicated.

A call to Diltz’s probation officer resulted in a warrant being issued “on the spot” for probation violation, due to the items found in Diltz’s bedroom. Diltz was taken to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held on a probation violation.

Additional felony or misdemeanor charges are expected to be filed in the near future.

Police do not believe that other adults living in the residence were aware of what was occurring, and no charges have been filed against them.
