Elva L. Ashbaugh Lenhart

Elva L. “Bill” Ashbaugh Lenhart, 87, of Melrose, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born May 16, 1924, in Scott, the daughter of the late Pearl and Mary Taylor. On July 4, 1942, she married Carroll B. “Casey” Ashbaugh, who preceded her in death in 1972.

Survivors include three sons, Richard (Nancy) Ashbaugh of Grover Hill, Roger (Pam) Ashbaugh of Defiance and Dean (Dawn) Ashbaugh of Reading, Mich.; a daughter, Barbara (Bob) Switzer of Melrose; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jan Vance of Coldwater, Mich., and Mary Lou Vance of Grover Hill; two brothers, Lewis Vance of Coldwater, Mich., and Clifford (Mary) McClain of Swanton; and one foster sister, Verda Leatherman of Oakwood.

Two sisters, Ellen Mohr and Opal Vance; and two brothers, Doyle McClain and Nelson McClain, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, with the Rev. Jerry Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
