Harold Zutavern

Harold “Zuty” Zutavern, 93, of Bloomville, died Friday morning, February 10, 2012, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born January 14, 1919, in St. Stephens, Bloom Township, Seneca County, the son of the late Earl and Minnie (Acker) Zutavern. On March 1, 1942, in New Washington, he married Marcella W. “Sally” (Ackerman) Zutavern, who survives in Bloomville.

Harold was a lifelong farmer and had served 45 years as a Bloom Township trustee. He was a member of Bloomville United Church of Christ; Seneca Lodge 790, Free & Accepted Masons, in Republic; Bloom Grange; a 1936 Bloomville High School graduate; and was an avid Ohio State University and Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers fan. He enjoyed reading, playing dartball and farming.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Linda J. (Michael C.) Stanley of Van Wert and Richard E. Zutavern of Bloomville; three grandchildren, Sheri (Aaron) Lantz of Attica, Lori (Brian) Bumb of Bloomville and Craig (Andrea) Zutavern of Cincinnati; and seven great-grandchildren, Brycen and Camryn Lantz, Caden, Blake and Tayah Bumb, and Ellie and Jacob Zutavern.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, at Bloomville United Church of Christ, located on North Marion Street, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 13, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. Ohio 19 in Bloomville.
