Soccer: Ottoville tops Lincolnview

It was “Futball” Friday night at Lincolnview High School as the Lancers and Ottoville Big Green opened their respective boys soccer seasons.
Ottoville proved to be too much for Lincolnview in a 4-0 win for the Big Green.
“It’s hard to fault our kids tonight,” Lincolnview head coach Eli Alvarez said. “They played as hard as they could, but we came up against a much more seasoned and experienced team. We told our group that we don’t want to hang our hats on moral victories, but we saw a lot of correctable mistakes tonight. We feel confident that we can learn from those mistakes and build from this loss.”
“We made too many simple mistakes and good teams like Ottoville are going to capitalize on those opportunities,” he continued. “Our biggest test now is how we respond. Our next few games don’t get any easier and we’re going to find out what we’re made of mentally and physically over the next week.”
“Overall, we’re excited about what we’re building and the direction of the program. We know there is still a lot of work ahead of us. We have to continue getting better, getting our kids to buy in, and trusting the process.”
Ottoville also won the junior varsity game 3-0. The two teams played one half.
