Truck fire in VW

Some defective portable battery jumper units were blamed for a fire inside a semi-tractor truck that occurred on South Washington Street last night. According to Van Wert County Emergency Management Director Rick McCoy, the defective battery jumper units were stacked on top of several containers full of flammable, hazardous materials, but those fortunately did not ignite, largely because of quick action on the part of the Van Wert Fire Department. Here, a Van Wert city backhoe assists firefighters in removing burnt pallets on which the defective battery jumpers were stored.
