United Way plans Cinco de Mayo event

United Way Campaign Chair Lorie Garwood wanted to do something different for a fundraiser and when talking with Todd Daniels, club manager at Willow Bend Country Club, came up with an event a little different from what other organizations have done in the past.

“Previously, Willow Bend has done a Valentine’s Day brunch and St. Patrick’s Day event that featured authentic Irish food,” Garwood said. “These events were very successful and well attended, but this fundraiser will be very different and a lot of fun.”

The event will be Friday, May 4 (actually one day ahead of Cinco de Mayo), from 5-9 p.m., at Willow Bend, and will feature a Mexican buffet, frozen Margaritas, Mexican beer tasting, silent auction, prizes, and raffles.

Price per ticket will be $25 and can be purchased either at Willow Bend or the United Way office.  Corporate tables will also be available.  For the price of the ticket you will receive two featured drinks and the buffet. Ticket purchasers do not have to be a member of Willow Bend to attend. Transportation at the end of the evening will also be provided.

Mark those calendars now for Friday, May 4, from 5-9 p.m. at Willow Bend Country Club. Get tickets early; they won’t last long!
