OWS Exhibit opens
By Hope Wallace
The opening reception of the Ohio Watercolor Society exhibit was held this past Sunday from 1–5. This time we served a high tea with four different kinds of hot tea, sun-dried tomato sandwiches with basil butter, cheddar pecan crackers, assorted mini-muffins, cherry and lemon bars and spiced brandy balls. Around here we think of food as art too.

If you missed this one, we’ll have another reception soon, watch for upcoming events! The Ohio Watercolor Society traveling exhibit is a collection of 40 paintings from some of the best watercolor artists in Ohio and surrounding states. Intense color, minute detail and abstracted pieces comprise these quality paintings. Most of the paintings are for sale and would make an excellent investment to any art collection. There is never a fee to attend our exhibits and our Tuesday night ArtNight is also free to the public. The Wassenberg Art Center is your community art center.
Most classes at the Wassenberg Art Center can be configured for company or private parties and/or outings. One-time sessions can be a great way to build morale, kick back and have a little fun outside the work environment. We’d like to offer the Wassenberg Art Center, your community art center, for private art parties, corporate meetings or training/morale boosting gatherings. Our formally trained instructors are here to work directly with you to design an experience for your particular group. For example, our “Premier Coup” class, where participants create an acrylic painting in one setting is an excellent way to get out of the office and interact with coworkers in a neutral, fun setting. Please give us a call so we can meet with you and brainstorm a one-of-a-kind event. Your group is unique and so deserves an individual and custom appreciation.
The 2012 Wassenberg Art Center High School Invitational is quickly approaching. Area high schools within an approximate 35-mile radius should have received invitations for their students. We enthusiastically encourage the schools, their art teachers, guidance counselors and parents to prompt art students to submit their work for cash prizes and honors. We are very excited to help foster our cultural identity through creative expression in our youth.
Give us a call or email us to see what the Wassenberg Art Center can provide for your organization, students or family. We are here to help you create, a basic component of human nature.
Contact the art center at 419.238.6837, by email:admin@wassenbergartcenter.org or via our website at: wassenbergartcenter.org. The Wassenberg Art Center is located at 643 South Washington Street in Van Wert. Our hours during exhibits are: Tuesday-Sunday from 1–5 p.m.–5 p.m.
