J. Joanne Putman Burk

J. Joanne Putman Burk, 81, of Payne, died at 12:28 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 31, 1930, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Harold Joel Clear and Mildred Marie (Grady) Slaugenhoupt. On November 29, 1947, she first married Herbert E. Putman, who died October 2, 1978. She then married Arlen “Dub” Burk, on June 30, 1979, and he survives.

Other survivors include Cheryl A. Putman Matthews of Van Wert; two sons, Alan (Sue) Putnam of Valrico, Fla., and Kevin Putman of Dublin; a sister, Lorraine (Paul W.) Miller of Van Wert; a half-sister, Nancy (Dwight) Palmetto of Lima; three stepchildren, Terry (Le) Burk of Little Rock, Ark., Gary (Pam) Burk of Oxford, and Cindy (Ed) Amstutz of Columbus; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; and her dog, Sadie.

A son, Terry Putman; a great-grandson, Brandon Heath; a stepdaughter, Cathy Banks; and one sister, Carol Priest.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Payne, with the Revs. Julia Ronngren and Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
