Carl F. Shaw

Carl F. Shaw, 84, of Grover Hill, died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born January 22, 1928, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Lewellyn F. and Grace (Gardner) Shaw. He married Eloise (Miller) Shaw at the parsonage in Wetzel, and she survives in Grover Hill.

Mr. Shaw was a part-time farmer who also retired from Continental Can Company in Van Wert after 43 years of service. He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and was a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Carla (Jim) Foster of Van Wert and Deena (Dale) Coppes of Grover Hill; a brother, Gene (Evelyn) Shaw of Hillsdale, Mich.; three granddaughters and one grandson; and one great-granddaughter and four great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Revs. Steve Savage and Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the funeral home.
