VW to celebrate ‘Week of Young Child’
Van Wert County Family and Children First Council Early Childhood Committee asks Van Wert residents to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child™ (April 22–28). As part of the national Week of the Young Child™ celebrated across the country, Van Wert, Ohio is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.
“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Van Wert has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children,” said Andrea Morrow, Early Childhood Committee Chair. “Week of the Young Child™ is a time for Van Wert to recognize that Early Years are Learning Years® for all young children.”
This year many activities are being promoted by area businesses to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. On April 23 and 24, The Brumback Library will be holding special story times and arts and crafts sessions. On April 25, the YMCA will be hosting a free open family swim and gym activity night from 6-8. Westwood Behavioral Health Center will be running a free Parenting Magic Workshop for parents of children ages 2-12. Please contact each organization for more information.
The Week of the Young Child™ which is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC),] is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to Van Wert. Week of the Young Child™ is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.
