Herbert M. Miller

Herbert M. Miller, 86, of Rockford and formerly of Chattanooga, died at 11:34 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born November 29, 1925, in Blackcreek Township, Willshire, the son of the late Carl F. and Gertrude (Brewster) Miller. On December 3, 1950, he married Florence (Schumm) Miller, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Karen (Joe) Bennett of Celina; two brothers, Carl Laverne (Martha) Miller of Monroe, Ind., and Kenneth (Dee) Miller of Demotte, Ind.; three sisters, Ruth Werner of Zelienople, Pa., and Emilene Henkle of Rockford; and a grandson.

Two sisters, Helen Linn and Anna Lou Kosier, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery, with graveside rites performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, where the VFW will have a ceremony at 7 that evening, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
