County Spelling Bee date announced

Sandra Freeman, Western Buckeye Educational Service Center coordinator of Gifted Education, invites the public to attend the 2011 Van Wert County Spelling Bee. The Spelling Bee is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, February 10, at The Marsh Foundation School Auditorium.
Thirteen contestants representing eight Van Wert county schools in grades 4-8 will compete for the honor of representing the county at the Journal-Gazette Regional Spelling Bee in Fort Wayne, Indiana in March.
Individual school champions are:
- Crestview Elementary – Amber Lichtenberger, Grade 5; Cora Millay, Grade 6
- Crestview Junior High – Hannah Bowen, Grade 7; Corban Grubb, Grade 8
- S.F. Goedde School – Samantha Shartzer, Grade 5
- Lincolnview Elementary – Frankie Carey, Grade 5; Katelyn Wendel, Grade 6
- Lincolnview Junior High – Derek Youtsey, Grade 7; Madie Enyart, Grade 8
- Lincolnview Marsh School – Jennifer Schrecengost, Grade 8
- St. Mary’s Elementary – Alisha Terhark, grade 4
- Van Wert Middle School – Nick Motycka, Grade 6; Chris Kraner, Grade 7, Korbin Schalois, grade 8
Dr. Robert Scheidt of Van Wert is the pronouncer for the Spelling Bee, while judges for the contest are Crestview Elementary Principal Kathy Mollenkopf, Lincolnview Elementary Principals Gordon Stemen, and Van Wert Middle School/Goedde Building Principal Mark Bagley. Lincolnview Marsh Principal Roger Salisbury is in charge of the physical set-up of the competition
Van Wert Federal Savings Bank is sponsoring the awards for the event. All participants will receive recognition of their participation.
Contestants are reminded to report to the Marsh Foundation School Library at 6:30 p.m. the day of the event.
