Knights down Jefferson for sectional title

The Crestview softball team won a 10-0 run-rule game over Delphos Jefferson in the Lincolnview Division IV sectional title game on Wednesday.

The Knights opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning and added eight more runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth inning for the victory.

Kirsten Hicks pitched a one-hitter to get the win for Crestview. Hicks had eight strikeouts in the game and no walks. She set down the opposition in order in four of the five innings. Fallon Van Dyke had the lone Jefferson hit in the first inning.

The Lady Wildcats’ Taylor Branham was the losing pitcher, giving up 10 runs, eight of those earned, on 11 hits, while striking out three and walking two batters in 4 2/3 innings.

McKenzie Nofer, Kristen and Danica Hicks and Taylor Springer all had two hits in the game for the Knights, with Kirsten Hicks batting in three runs and Springer adding two RBI.

In Crestview’s big fourth inning, the Knights had five consecutive singles and seven hits altogether.

The Knights (22-4) will now play Miller City at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Division IV District Tournament at Elida.
