Eleanor L. Breece

Eleanor L. Breece, 77, of Van Wert, died at 3:09 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born December 7, 1934, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Elmer and Marvel (Sanders) Oechsle. On June 14, 1953, she married Doyt R. Breece, who preceded her in death on October 30, 1993.

Mrs. Breece was a homemaker and had worked at Lincolnview Local Schools, the Trinity United Methodist Church office and Allen County Job & Family Services Department. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, where she was a member of the church choir, the bell choir and had served on various committees of the church.

She also volunteered with the Van Wert County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio and Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry. She was an avid supporter of all of her grandchildren’s activities and enjoyed spending time at Waldron Lake.

Survivors include three children, Alan R. Breece and Cheryl (Dennis) Hoover, both of Van Wert, and Cindy (Rick) Mollenkopf of Convoy; seven grandchildren, Mike and Justin Breece, Heather Thornell, Tiffany Lugabihl, Melissa Hoover, and JR and Michelle Mollenkopf; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Nick Mollenkopf, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with Rev. Scott Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Preferred memorials: American Red Cross or Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
