Olympic Day at St. Marys
By Nancy Replogle

St. Mary of the Assumption School held an “Olympic Day” on Tuesday, May 15.
The students were divided into “continents” and each continent was divided into four teams. The continents competed as teams and/or individually in various events. For the opening ceremony all teams marched into the gym as the Olympic song was played. Erika Younts carried the Olympic torch.
After students recited the Olympic oath, the games began. Running races, softball throwing, chalk drawings, quiz bowls, an obstacle course, standing long jump, and many other events were included.
At the closing ceremony all students received a medal. Appreciation goes to Frank and Mary Minnig for organizing the event, and to the parent volunteers who helped make the day go smoothly.
The students had a lot of fun and plenty of exercise. Congratulations to all the teams for using “LIFE” skills and showing good sportsmanship.
