2nd Lichtensteiger football camp planned

CONVOY — Area and regional offensive football players of all ages have the chance to meet and learn from Washington Redskins offensive guard Kory Lichtensteiger. Lichtensteiger has announced the dates for his upcoming football camp on June 23 and 24 in Convoy. Begun in 2011, this second camp will again be instructed by NFL and NCAA Division 1A college football players who have come together to provide a non-contact football camp that focuses on the offensive development of young athletes in grades 3-12.

Now wearing No. 78 on his Redskins jersey, Lichtensteiger was a four-year scholar-athlete on the Crestview Knights football team. After an award winning college career with the Bowling Green State University Falcons, he was a fourth round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in 2008.

Prior to joining the Redskins in 2010, he played for the Minnesota Vikings. He signed with and started as the left offensive guard for the Washington Redskins in 2010. After an ACL injury against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011, he is returning to the Redskins again this coming season.

The first Kory Lichtensteiger Football Camp in 2011 featured 75 young participants, along with Ball State college standout and fellow Crestview Knight alumni Briggs Osborn, who will be returning for this year’s camp, along with several other offensive players from the Ball State and Bowling Green football teams.

The camp will again be hosted at the Crestview Football Stadium in Convoy. Instruction for youth in grades 9-12 will be held Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Grades 7-8 instruction will begin at 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, and on Sunday, June 24, young players from grades 3-6 are invited to attend a camp from noon to 3 p.m.
