Leona Mae Schlemmer

Leona Mae Schlemmer, 98, a longtime resident of Monroe, Ind., died at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.

She was born May 10, 1914, in Tully Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Glen and Effie (Geyer) Beucler. She married Keith Gilbert, who died in an auto accident in February 1976. She then married Philip Schlemmer, who also preceded her in death, in January 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann (Larry) Gilbert Bland of Willshire, formerly of Monroeville, Ind.; two brothers, Edwin (Harriet) Beucler and Byron (Barbara) Beucler, both of Monroeville, Ind.; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandddaughter.

A grandson also preceded her in death.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at the family’s convenience in Monroeville Cemetery.

There will be calling hours.
