Louis E. Thomas

Louis E. Thomas of Van Wert died at 7:36 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born January 14, 1939, in Van Wert, the son of the late Ralph and Ora Jane (Woods) Thomas. On March 17, 1962, he married Carol B. (Sheets) Thomas, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Thomas was employed by Van Wert City Schools for 30 years and then employed by the Van Wert County Solid Waste Management District up to the present. He graduated from Van Wert High School in 1957. He was a member and past president of the Van Wert Lions Club and also belonged to the Van Wert Amateur Radio Club, Crime Stoppers of Van Wert County and the Van Wert County Genealogical Society.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Heidi Stormont) Thomas of Van Wert; one daughter, Michele (Azeem Masih) Thomas of Paulding; a brother, John (Sue) Thomas of Van Wert; a granddaughter, Ariel Thomas-Masih of Paulding; one brother-in-law, David (Patty) Sheets of Traverse City, Mich., and two sisters-in-law, Ardeth Edwards of Auburn, Ind., and Joan Sheets of New Haven, Ind.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Arrangements were handled by Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
