Rally in the Corn event begins today

The four-day Rally in the Corn begins this morning with a ribboncutting ceremony at 8 a.m. at the main gate of the Van Wert County Fairgrounds, with an official opening slated for 1-1:45 p.m. today on the event’s main stage.

Events for the first three days, when only those 21 and over are allowed in, include stunts and a world record jump attempt by Henry “The Pitbull” Rife, biker games, a scavenger hunt, a number of musical groups, including Kill the Rabbit, Dan Lawson, AC/DC tribute band Back in Black, American Dog, Silver Bullet, and Paradise City.

There will also be bikini contests, a fashion show by Leather Lace & More, corn oil wrestling, a number of exhibits of biking equipment and apparel, a Custom Bike Competition, a tattoo contest and a “blessing of the bikes” ceremony Saturday morning.

Also planned is a poker run, tricycle races, karaoke and a parade.

Sunday will be Family Day, and those under 21 can join the adults at the Rally in the Corn. Activities and events on Sunday include Biker Church held by Whitehorse Ministries, while Prisoners of Hope band will perform.

A scavenger hunt for children will be held, starting at 1 Sunday afternoon, while DJ Kat will perform from 1-4 p.m.

Headliner band, RB Stone, will also perform from 5-7 p.m. Sunday on the main stage.
