The Van Wert County Council on Aging is proud to announce the recent hiring of a new executive director, Kevin Matthews.

Matthews earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio. He is also currently a licensed social worker and a certified professional in human resources.
Matthews began his 20-year tenure at the Starr Commonwealth in Van Wert in 1991, filling various roles but ending as the associate director. Matthews comes aboard at the Council on Aging with enthusiasm and visions for the future.
“With our Baby Boomers quickly reaching retirement, agencies like the Council on Aging are becoming heavily used resources for seniors,” Matthews said. “Our county is beginning to see its largest number of senior citizens in history with a larger increase in numbers as we move forward and continue to grow together as a community and as an agency.”
Seniors are welcome to join Matthews and his staff at the Council on Aging Senior Center on Fox Road for all of the fun activities going on daily, as well a nutritious meal at a low cost. The Council on Aging is a United Way agency and also receives funding from The Van Wert County Foundation.
