Marlins do well at Wapak, Lima meets

The Van Wert YMCA Marlins kicked off their 2012 summer season by traveling to Wapakoneta Community Pool on June 11. The 9-10 girls completely dominated all their events. Jamie Burenga and Katie Mcvaigh each took three first places, sweeping all the individual events, along with Emma Pollock taking second in four events. The 11-12 girls followed that with a sweep of their own, with Risa Pollock and Erin Miller each taking first three times.

Sam Easley (13-14 boys) took first in all four of his individual events. Also scoring a first place finish were: Kayla Krites (2); Daniel Miller (2); Hannah Stemen (1); Ean Stant (1) and Brendan Marecic (1).  The 11-12 girls’ 200 freestyle relay team of Katie McVaigh, Kathryn Wray, Erin Miller, Risa Pollock took first, as well as the 15 & Over Boys 200 freestyle relay team of Sam Easley, Trey Stemen, Brendan Marecic, Evan Stant.

On Thursday June 14, the Marlins traveled to Lima Westside Pool. Sam Easley again finished first in all five of his individual events.  Also bringing home first place finishes were: Luke Miller (2); Katie McVaigh (2); Erin Miller (1); Risa Pollock (3); Aaron Stant (2); Bethany Fast (2); Eric Easley (1). The Girls 11-12 200 freestyle relay finished first (Jamie Burenga, Kathryn Wray, Erin Miller, Katie McVaigh).
