Bill Lyle Hardy

Bill Lyle Hardy, 74, of Van Wert and formerly of Hudson, Mich., died at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born August 2, 1937, in Fulton County, the son of the late James Ray and Ella Mae (Slagle) Hardy. On December 1, 1956, in Holland, Ohio, he married Patricia Frances (Welly) Hardy, who survives at the residence.

Other survivors include three sons, William Anthony (Brenda) Hardy of Brownstown, Mich., Wayne L. (Jessica) Hardy of North Adams, Mich., and Michael Ray (Sherri) Hardy of Adrian, Mich.; two daughters, Tammy Jane (Joe) Miskowski of Jackson, Mich., and Sarah Ellan (Doug) Cripe of Van Wert; three brothers, H. Ray (Mary) Gregory of Mount Sterling, Ill., and Daniel P. Hardy of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Wanda Kay (Butch) Houston of Knoxville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Margaret Teresa DePew; three brothers, James M. Hardy, Dave L. Hardy and John L. Hardy; a sister, Patricia Ann Bowles; and a grandson, Robert Lee DePew, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dan Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
