Gardeners seek garden nominations

The Gardeners of Van Wert County are once again asking for area residents’ help. The gardening club is looking for gardens, both commercial and residential, within Van Wert County that are deserving of special recognition. These gardens need not be large or elaborate but should exhibit pride of ownership and care.

Area residents might notice such a garden as they take their daily walk, or as they drive to work each day.  It catches the eye because of its color, its design, its unique combination of plants, or the well-cared-for look when neighboring gardens are nondescript.  Whatever it is, others are probably noticing too.  The Gardeners of Van Wert County would like to acknowledge the contribution these gardens make to the community.

Area residents are asked to take a few minutes to jot down the address and take a photo of the garden.  Those submitting nominations should send that information, along with the gardener’s name, if they know it, to Gardeners of Van Wert County, P.O. All nominations for the Beautification Award must be received before Thursday, July 26.  The club will look at the gardens suggested and determine winners for the 2012 awards.  The winning gardeners will be invited to join the Gardeners of Van Wert County at their annual August picnic to receive recognition.
