James R. Haigh

James R. Haigh, 67, of Van Wert, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born June 25, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Arnold F. and Christina (Mitchell) Haigh. On November 9, 1968, he married Geri (Schutzman) Haigh, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Haigh was the retired production manager for Continental Structural Plastics (formerly The Budd Company) in Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during the Vietnam War. He was also a member and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 1197 in Van Wert and belonged to the Van Wert Knights of Columbus lodge and Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Jason (Michelle) Haigh of Richmond, Ky., and Jon (Rachel) Haigh of Pittsburgh; and seven grandchildren, Logan, Chelsea, Dalton, Jeremy, Jillian, Zachary and Tyler Haigh.

A brother, Arnold Haigh Jr.; and one sister, Elizabeth Haigh, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, where an Elks memorial service will be held at 6 that evening.
