Arts Factory sponsors kids art event
Information submitted
The Van Wert Arts Factory recently held an art event for kids in the YWCA Summer Food Program.

“Opportunity Knocks” gave the children an introduction to the work of artist Jackson Pollock, known as a “drip painter” because he dripped and splattered paint onto painting surfaces to create huge artwork. With guidance from Arts Factory representative Tomi Jaycox, the children enjoyed dripping and splattering paint on a door donated by Touches of Time. The finished door will be on display at the Van Wert Arts Factory.
Supporting partners for this outreach program are Touches of Time, Lee’s Ace Hardware, and Taylor Auto Sales. Community ArtReach mentors for this project are Tomi Jaycox, Kay Sluterbeck and Sally Geething.
The Van Wert Arts Factory is located at 136 E. Main St. Hours are irregular, but generally someone is in the gallery to assist visitors from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 2-4 p.m. Friday (appointments can be made by calling 419.238.6911 or emailing vanwertartsfactory@yahoo.com). The Arts Factory is a nonprofit initiative of Main Street Van Wert. Businesses and organizations that would like to host a Community ArtReach activity should call Jaycox at 419.238.5764.
