Wayne Brice McMillen

Wayne Brice McMillen, 89, of Van Wert, died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born August 28, 1922, in Adams County, Ind., the son of the late Brice and Mary Bernice (Cowan) McMillen. On January 3, 1953, he married Arlene A.
(Hubert) McMillen, who preceded him in death on January 28, 1996.

Survivors include three sons, Danny L. (Karla S. McMillen, Jimmy B. McMillen and Lonnie McMillen, all of Van Wert; three stepchildren, Lonnie Richard Novack of South Dakota, Penney (Renea) Thompson of Van Wert and Carolyn (Tom) Firestone of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A son, Jerry Wayne McMillen; two grandsons, Christopher Daniel McMillen and Jason Woods; one brother, John William McMillen; and two sisters, Mary Kathryn McGill and Elizabeth Ann Bollenbacher, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guard of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at the funeral home.
