Van Wert golfers defeat MAC rivals

The Van Wert Cougar golfers turned a team score of 158 to match their score the previous day and defeat Midwest Athletic Conference rivals Parkway and Coldwater. The Panthers carded a 182 on the day, while the Cavaliers put together a score of 231.
Match medalist was Van Wert’s Jacob Brake, who defeated teammate Tyler Turnwald and Jordan Bollenbacher and Brian Schatzer of Parkway, all of who had 38s on the day.
The match was closely contested, but Van Wert’s No. 3-6 players made a big difference. Brandon Hernandez shot a 41 for the Cougars, followed by Lucas Etzler’s 42, Adam Jurczyk’s 47 and Justin Price’s 56.
Van Wert will play the Kenton Wildcats on Thursday in a Western Buckeye League match-up at Kenton.
