VWHS students receive AP recognition

VWCS information

Thirteen students at Van Wert High School have been recognized by the College Board because of their exceptional achievement on the Advanced Placement exams during the 2011-12 school year.  Four students received the AP Scholar with Honor Award, which recognizes a student who received scores of 3 or higher on four or more AP exams.

Those students are Daniel Bashore, son of Gregg and Sandy Bashore; Taylor Grooms, daughter of Doug and Sandra Grooms; Katie Kline, daughter of Keith and Karen Kline; and Linzey Rice, daughter of Dan and Jennifer Arend.

Nine students received the AP Scholar Award, which is granted to students who have received scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

Those students are Alex Bair, son of Phillip and Shelly Bair; Thad Davis, son of Thad and Kathleen Davis; Erin Dingle, daughter of James and Diane Dingle; Molly Gamble, daughter of John and Beth Gamble; Brooke Keber, daughter of Dan and Vicki Keber; Nathan Knodel, son of Brad and Pam Knodel; Scott Turner, son of Glenn and Chris Turner; Courtney VanHorne, daughter of Scott and Traci Whitcraft; and Jenna Waterman, daughter of Steve and Gloria Waterman.

The Advanced Placement Program at Van Wert High School offers students the opportunity to take challenging college level courses while still in high school. Van Wert High School offers six Advanced Placement courses, including chemistry, English language, English literature, calculus, psychology and government.

A total of 134 Advanced Placement tests were given at Van Wert High School during the testing period this past May.
