Stanley M. Shellabarger

Stanley M. Shellabarger, 92, of Rockford, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, where he was a patient.

He was born August 26, 1920, in Brookville, the son of Ray and Arkana (Crouch) Shellabarger. On November 9, 1945, he married Louise (Rowland) Shellabarger, who survives in Rockford.

Other survivors include four sons, Rodney (Dorene) Shellabarger of Van Wert, Craig (Barb) Shellabarger of Celina, Randy (Colleen) Shellabarger of Rockford and Mike (Angie) Shellabarger of Middle Point; a brother, Wayne (Martha) Shellabarger of Mendon; two sisters, Francis (Frank) Stoner and Vivian Hodge, both of Celina; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Shellabarger of Celina.

Two brothers, John and Lowell Shellabarger, and one sister, Evelyn Spees, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, September 10, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Marvin Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, with graveside military rites performed by Rockford American Legion post.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 9, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Rockford Recreation Association or to Rockford Presbyterian Church.
