County airport gets $103,000 grant

Information submitted

WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources have been awarded to an airport in Van Wert County. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) announced that the Van Wert County Regional Airport Authority and the Van Wert County have been awarded federal resources through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to remove obstructions from the runway at the Van Wert County Airport.

“Van Wert County Airport provides important travel services to area small businesses, recreational pilots, and visitors,” Brown said. “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for the county.”

The airport will receive a $103,910 grant to complete the project, which Airport Manager Tom Dunno said involves burying utility cables when contacted on Tuesday.
