MP woman charged in fatal accident

Staff/OSHP information

A Middle Point woman has been indicted on felony charges following a month-long investigation into the cause of a fatal traffic crash that occurred in August of this year.

Lisa A. Hundley, 32, has been indicted by the September session of the Van Wert County Grand Jury on two felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and a misdemeanor charge of child endangering.

The charges stem from an accident that occurred August 5 at the intersection of Chenowith Road and Lincoln Highway in Van Wert County that resulted in the death of Geneva Lambert, 90, also of Middle Point.

The investigative team included troopers from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and a trooper from the Findlay District Investigative Unit.

During the investigation, it was found that Hundley was operating a 2003 Dodge Dakota with a suspended operator’s license and had been “huffing” from a can of compressed air at the time of the crash. The investigation blamed Hundley’s impairment for the fatal crash .

The investigation also found that Gary L. Spridgeon of Middle Point, owner of the Dodge Dakota, had granted permission to Hundley to operate the vehicle on August 5, and he has been issued a summons to appear in Van Wert Municipal Court on a charge of wrongful entrustment.

The child endangering count is a result of physical injury to a 13-year-old passenger in the Dodge Dakota driven by Hundley.
