Donate blood during Day of Caring event
United Way information
On Friday, September 28, the United Way of Van Wert County will hold its Day of Caring/American Red Cross blood drive. The drive will take place from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Family Life Center of Trinity Friends Church, 605 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert.
To schedule an appointment to donate, please call 1.800.RED.CROSS or go to www.redcrossblood.org. Any person 17 or older in generally good health and weighing at least 110 pounds is eligible to donate. There currently is a national call to donate blood due to a critical shortage of blood supply that may affect availability for patients in need.
Donations are needed to help maintain a stable blood supply for ongoing and emergency needs. Donating one pint of whole blood can be used to save up to three lives. All those donating blood at the United Way of Van Wert County Day of Caring American Red Cross blood drive will receive a United Way Day of Caring t-shirt.
Area residents can do their part to “Live United” by signing up to donate blood at this critical time.
