Cougar volleyball team gets by Elida

ELIDA — The Van Wert Cougars were back in action Thursday night when they traveled to Elida to take on the Elida Bulldogs in their second Western Buckeye League match.

The first game went to the Cougars by a resounding score of 25-17. Elida put up a fight in the second game, but the Cougars finished the game with a 26-24 win. The third match was a replay of last year’s sectional match, with Elida winning 30-28. The Cougars were determined, though, that this match wasn’t going into five games and won the fourth game 25-21.

The Cougars are now 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in the WBL, and will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Paulding to face the Panthers. There will be junior varsity, varsity and then freshman matches that day, starting at 10 a.m.

Van Wert JVs were defeated by Elida in two games 13-25 and 21-25.
