Van Wert golf information

Moeller was a former Marion Local High School golfer and golf course employee who died tragically as a result of a car accident several years ago.

Fifteen teams participated in the tournament, with the Cougars bringing home the hardware. Jake Brake was the top golfer and, mostly importantly, the team took the first-place trophy with a score of 325.

An interesting aspect of the tournament is the scholarship money available to participating seniors. The low senior golfer (Brake) earned a $500 scholarship, while senior Matt Severt of St. Marys had his name drawn out of a hat to receive a second $500 scholarship.

Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood said a big “thank you” goes to the Jordan Moeller family for putting on such a first-rate tournament and doing such a good job of honoring their son.
