State Patrol assigns 2 to Van Wert Post

The Ohio State Highway Patrol on Tuesday announced a promotion and two assignments to the Van Wert Post.

Trooper Joseph R. Sisco was promoted to the rank of sergeant by Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Academy. Sgt. Sisco will transfer from his current assignment at the Defiance Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Van Wert Post.

Sgt. Sisco joined the Patrol in October 2001 as a member of the 138th Academy Class. He received his commission in April of the following year and was assigned to the Van Wert Post, where he earned the Criminal Patrol Award, and was selected as Post and District Trooper of the Year in 2009. In 2010, he transferred to his most recent assignment at the Defiance Post, where he was selected as Post “Trooper of the Year” in 2011.

Sgt. Sisco earned an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice from Northwest State Community College in 2001. He resides in Defiance with his wife, Angela, and their daughter, Ella, 4.

Trooper Nathan L. Teufel becomes the newest member of the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He joined the Highway Patrol in April 2012 as a member of the 152nd Academy Class. He received his commission on August 30 after an intensive 22 weeks of training. He is just one of 39 new troopers who graduated the Academy.

Trooper Teufel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth. He is a native of the Portsmouth area and currently resides in Mercer County.

Trooper Teufel has a twin brother, Justin, who hopes to pursue the career of a trooper as well.
