Marlins compete in first 2012 meet

LIMA — The YMCA Marlins opened their 2012 winter season by traveling to the Lima Family YMCA this past Saturday to compete against Lima and Wapakoneta.

Lima and Wapak are the two largest teams in the area and offer some very strong competition. Placing for the Marlins were: Tyra McClain, taking second in the 50-yard freestyle and 25-yard breaststroke;  Emma Pollock, finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard breaststroke, as well as a second place finish in the 100-yard individual medley, the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

Jamie Burenga took second place in the 50 backstroke and 100 freestyle, while  Katie McVaigh placed first in the 50 butterfly and second in the 100 IM, 50 and 100 freestyle and 50 backstroke;  Aaron Stant was second in the 200 freestyle.

9-10  Girls: Emma Pollock – 1^st 200 Free and 50 Breast; 2^nd 100 IM, 50 Free and 50 Fly.  Jamie Burenga – 2^nd 50 Back and 100 Free; 3^rd 50 Free; 4^th 50 Fly; 5^th 100 IM.  Rachel Spath – 6^th 50 Fly, 50 Back and 100 Free.
