VWHS volleyball team has banquet

The Van Wert volleyball banquet was held Sunday, November 18, in the high school commons area. The teams, parents and coaches enjoyed a meal catered by Kristy Bidlack.

The varsity team’s three senior captains were recognized for their great leadership for the 2012 season. WBL honors were Alexa Dunlap, First Team, All-Western Buckeye League; Alexis Dowdy, Third Team, All-WBL; and Riley Jones, Honorable Mention, All-WBL.

District 8 honors went to Alexa Dunlap (Honorable Mention) and Sydney Collins (District 8 All Star Match).

The Van Wert volleyball team had 26 members that were presented scholar-athlete awards. To receive the award, athletes must maintain a 3.0 average during the first nine weeks.

Van Wert finished its season with a 13-11 record and a 6-3 finish in league play.
