VWHS swimmers win double dual meet

Van Wert swim team information

The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming teams hosted Marion Local and Fort Recovery in a double dual meet at the Van Wert YMCA. The Cougar boys and girls dominated the pool, defeating both visiting teams. The Van Wert boys got wins over Marion Local, 65-27, and Fort Recovery, 67-25, while the Cougar girls defeated Marion Local, 61-30, and Fort Recovery, 63-29.

Van Wert swimmers placed first against both teams in 14 out of 22 events. Individual girls included Mackenzie Agler (200-meter and 100-meter freestyle), Hannah Stemen (50-meter freestyle), and Karlyn Koontz (100-meter individual medley and 100-meter butterfly).

Individual boys included Adam Jurczyk (200-meter and 100-meter freestyle), Eric Easley (200-meter individual medley and 100-meter butterfly), and Josh Overholt (100-meter breaststroke).

The following Cougar relays were also first overall: 200-meter medley boys (Silette, Overholt, Easley, Trisel); 200-meter freestyle boys (Easley, Beckner, Trisel, Jurczyk) and girls (Foster, Meyers, Agler, Hammond); 400-meter freestyle boys (Jurczyk, Schlatter, Scheidt, Silette).

Van Wert swimmers will travel Saturday to the Lima YMCA to take on Lima Bath, St. Marys and Elida.
