Information submitted

CELINA — A Coldwater man has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that took place in Celina this past Sunday.

Phillip W. Hibner, 21, has been charged with felonious assault after he allegedly forced his way into the apartment of a former girlfriend and cut her new boyfriend with what was described as a box cutting type of knife or tool.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call at 2:39 Sunday morning from Shannon Farley, who reported an ex- boyfriend was at her residence trying to get in. Farley reported Hibner forced his way into the residence and then got into an altercation with her current boyfriend, Kelly R. Cheadle of Dayton. Cheadle was treated at Mercer Health for the wound, while Hibner was later found at his residence in Coldwater.

Hibner is being held with $100,000 bond per Celina Municipal Court Judge James Scheer, and the case is currently being reviewed for the possible filing of additional charges.
