City vigil today for Sandy Hook victims

A local resident has organized a candlelight vigil for tonight to commemorate the children and adults who died at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

The vigil is scheduled for 6 tonight in Fountain Park, according to a release sent out by local resident Lucinda Berkebile.

“This has hit close to home to all of us with children,” Berkebile said, adding that she feels for the friends and families of all who were victims of the tragic shooting incident that occurred eight days ago in the Connecticut community.

Area residents are urged to bring a candle and join in a remembrance of the 20 children and seven adults, including shooter Adam Lanza’s mother, Nancy, who died last Friday.
