Jim R. Carroll

Jim R. Carroll, 63, of Van Wert, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born March 5, 1949, in Van Wert, the son of the late Elmo and Ellen (Shepherd) Carroll. On July 12, 1968, he married Shirley Ann (Hammons) Carroll, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include three children, Michael (Melody) Carroll of Archbold, Ann (Brian) DeWaters of Garrett, Ind., and Cody (Sarah) Carroll of Lima; two brothers, Bill Carroll and Eddie Carroll, both of Van Wert; five sisters, Sue (Larry) Dowler, Faye (Jack) Trinosky and Peggy Burnett, all of Van Wert, Colleen (Michael) Rowland of Middle Point and Nancy (Louie) King of Lima; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Herschel Eugene Carroll, Kerry Lee Carroll and Barry Lynn Carroll, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Dale Bolenbaugh and the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 4, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
